For those of you who didn't know (which is pretty much everyone except Addy), the iBook now has a name. It has been christened Rupert. Yes, this is also the plant's name, but if I had thought of it for the computer first I would have named the plant something different. Besides, this little white laptop is DEFINITELY a Rupert. Definitely.
Also. As of today I am officially obsolete. It was bound to happen, I knew it would when I bought the iBook. No biggie. I like my 12'' iBook, thank you very much. And I like my tried-and-true PowerPC processor even more. I'll get an Intel Mac the next time I get a new computer, which will prolly be 3 to 4 years when they've got the bugs worked out.

3 to 4 years!?! That's just about crazy. I would give you 2 maybe MAYBE 3, and for Apple to have the kinks worked out, I would probably say one year, at the most.
Plus, I don't think that obsolete is the correct term. At all.
"Buy what you need, when you need it, at a price that's reasonable. Your hardware is not magically obsoleted just by the existence of something better. For years to come, it will do the work you need."
From this article. Check it. I'm glad that you and Rupert get along, though.
obsolete (adjective): no longer produced or used; out of date.
while i (and many others) still USE iBooks, they are neither being produced anymore nor are they "up to date." therefore they are, in fact, technically obsolete.
Wow, I really didn't mean to sound that biting in what I wrote. Sounds pretty strong doesn't it?
In response to what you said: Touché. I just liked that's guys thoughts on the obsolete thing. It helped me realize the fact that my PowerBook is still fantastic, even though the MacBook Pro came out a while ago.
i agree with what the guy said too, he's absolutley right, just because the product is "out of date" doesn't mean it's no longer useful. i don't equate obsoleity (is that even a word?) with usefulness, so when i say obsolete i just meant out of date.
oh and i will TOO make it 3 to 4 years! you WATCH me!
